Sales. I love sales. Not just the red signs on shop windows, I mean actually SELLING to people. Call me crazy, but I just find it incredibly exciting and the rush you get when you make a sale is insane!
When I was a Network Marketer, it was my job to build up a company, recruit new sellers into my company and not only sell like a boss, but teach my team members to sell like a boss too.
Selling comes easy to me. Teaching people to sell, well that was a little more tricky! Now, I like to speak to business owners/Network Marketers and get to know them better before unleashing my top tips. You see, it’s sort of different for everyone. It depends on your personality, the product/service you have to offer and of course, the platform you choose to sell on.
However, what if you wanted a basic, BUT I WANNA SELL RIGHT NOW LAURA, guide to earn yourself commission for the weekend? This is why I’m sharing this HOT information.
I was named TOP SELLER UK in November 2016 in my previous Company. In 2 Years, I sold over $50,000 of Cosmetics and skincare and I did 99% of it online.
So whether you’ve just taken up a job as a Mortgage Advisor, Kleeneze rep, Network Marketer, Estate Agent, or maybe you just want to recognise when you’re being sold to. (That’s a handy tip. Sale’s reps hate me. But I am the queen of getting a good deal.)
Grab a notebook and pen and get ready, you’re just about to learn how to Sell Like a Boss.
SELLING LIKE A BOSS
Selling is a skill. At first glance, the word “selling” can stir up some resentful or negative emotions. I’m sure you’ve experienced an unwanted call from someone trying to sell to you on the phone…or an unexpected knock on the door. What about the dreaded words “Can I help you?” when you enter a small high street shop? Well, when you go into the task of selling with these thoughts and memories whirling around in your mind, you will – unsurprisingly – struggle to sell.
Also, think about the mindset you’re in. What statements are you telling yourself?
“People think…” (Then enter the statement you believe, i.e. “the make up is too expensive”)
DID YOU KNOW? According to clinical studies, our thoughts have a frequency (Like a radio!) Our thoughts can affect our physical state, not only our emotional state! (*Dr Emoto) And according to Neuroscience findings, our thoughts have a powerful influence on how we perceive the world.
Ok, I appreciate this is getting a bit deep. And you’re possibly reading this thinking “Laura, just tell me how to sell like a boss already!” But in order to sell like a boss, you need to start by sorting out what’s going on in your head.
Let’s explore the concept I’ve just outlined. Let’s say your plans involve going to Town to buy some clothes for your kids. You need to wait at a bus stop, get on a bus, walk around Town Centre, Browse the aisles, pop to the toilets, grab a bite to eat in Greggs, then wait at the bus stop, sit on the bus and walk home. (All still applies barring the bus if you drive instead)
If you were of the mindset “Nobody wants to talk to me, everyone thinks the make up is expensive, I’m never going to sell any make up” then you’ll undoubtedly miss many selling opportunities.
Let’s say you change a few of your thoughts. “There are loads of women who need to make a new friend, they are willing to pay for solutions to their problems, there are so many opportunities to share what I have!”
You’re brain will look for images and opportunities to support those statements. Here’s the thing you NEED to know. Your brain DOES NOT KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SOMETHING IT WANTS AND SOMETHING IT DOESN’T WANT. All your brain knows, is you are thinking about something. So it will help you identify things to support what it is you’re thinking about.
Suddenly, you notice the girl on the bus with really nice eyeliner. You smile at her – knowing that she wants to make a new friend – and compliment the way she’s done her eye make up. She smiles and says “thanks”; you’ve opened an opportunity to get to know her.
As you’re looking for a coat for your daughter, you spy two women chatting next to the coats. Give them a smile; ask them if they mind telling you if they know where the best place is to buy a spring coat…OPPORTUNITY.
You’re in the line at Greggs and the lady in front of you is scrolling through Facebook. Then you see she has a picture of a pug on her handbag. You say “Hey, have you seen that hilarious Beauty and the Pug video on FB?” OPPORTUNITY
Everywhere you go there are opportunities to:
Make New Friends
Find Party Hostesses
Book 1-2-1 consultations
Try this experiment out for yourself. Just think a few simple positive thoughts as stated above and just marvel at how your brain helps you to validate those thoughts.
MAGIC WORDS – BIG AL

5 Magic Words: Would It Be Ok If…
This is by far, the most popular method I have used and it really does work. I’ll show you a few examples:
“Hey! Would it be ok if I asked you a quick question?”
“Would it be ok if I sent you a link to my new video?”
“Would it be ok if I told you about the new product launch?”
“Would it be ok if I invited you to my next online party?”
“Would it be ok if I borrowed your face for a make over?”
“Would it be ok if I practiced doing a home party with you?”
These work well when you are sending a text message or FB message. If you approach new people in person, it’s a good idea to FREEZE their brain. (Remember I mentioned that before? OK, time to show you HOW.)
So our brain is amazing. We can identify dangers within a heartbeat, just using our auto-responses. Smell Gas? Danger, Danger! Buzzing noise? Bee! Wasp! Danger Danger! Don’t get stung!
Our brain can also quickly identify when someone is trying to become a car salesman. You know, the cocky man in the suit who comes your way with a swagger. “Hello, can I help you today…” DANGER! DANGER! Hide your wallet! Run for your life! He’s going to sell something…get away! Because our brain wants to protect us from suffering pain, it will put up defenses so that you will immediately shut off and say “not interested” EVEN though you might actually be SUPER interested…if you found out what it was you were being offered! So it’s really, really important to FREEZE the brain so that those defenses don’t get in the way of you and your prospect.
Now, Big Al’s method of freezing the brain stems back to the caveman. Our mind is wired for survival. And in order to survive, you “Stick to the group”. So when we say “Most people,” the mind thinks “hmm, who survives? Stick to the group! Which group do I want to be in? Few people or most people? Well most people! Ok I need to listen to this, it could be important…” So you essentially FREEZE the brain from all of the distracting thoughts and you can give your presentation so the prospect can make an informed decision on what will work for them.
These words FREEZE the brain:
“I’ve just found…”
“The most popular choice…”
“My most-sold product is…”
Now, wouldn’t it be awesome to get INSTANT rapport with the people you speak to? Even when they are strangers? Well, you CAN! All you have to do is make a statement that they already know to be true. Let me write that again, Make a statement that they already know to be true!
There’s an old saying that goes, “One Man’s Meat is another Man’s Poison.”
The brain responds by thinking “I’ve heard that before. That’s true. This person speaks my language. We agree. I need to pay attention, this person knows what they’re talking about.”
So, we can use magic words to build INSTANT rapport, FREEZE the brain and get 97% of the people we speak to, to say YES.

WHY PEOPLE BUY STUFF
There’s an old saying that goes something like, “If a man buys a drill, he doesn’t want a drill, he buys it because he wants to make a hole”
People don’t buy products. They buy solutions to their problems.
OR They buy to FEEL good.
It’s important to know WHY people buy stuff so that you can understand the approach that’s going to land you the sale. It’s very common to see Network Marketers to post pictures of products and say “PM me for more info” or simply post their link!
This is not going to generate many sales – if any!
Think about it, your audiences on Facebook are scrolling through that newsfeed. Your post needs to be eye-catching enough to get them to pause and read your post. Then you need to have something written that builds INSTANT rapport, FREEZES their brain and has them coming to you for more information on how to order!
So, instead of: I love this make up, Buy here today! www.smashinglashes.co.uk
Try: There’s an old saying that goes “the eyes are the window to the soul” and everyone wants long lashes to frame their eyes. Parties: Online parties are brilliant for making new contacts and entertaining the people in the party. If you can offer value and entertainment, the party guests will make a connection with you and add you as a friend. Then you can build a relationship and who knows? They might be your next black status presenter! A lot of my sponsors have come from my online parties.
I wont go into too much detail on this topic, but it’s super important to know! There’s a fantastic video on YouTube by Shari Brown called “Upsell Hotel.” Basically if you have a lady who would like a lipstick help them choose a shade. If they can’t decide between 3 then let her know you can get a set of 3 for a discount! Or suggest which lipliner will work with the lipstick. What else makes the perfect lip look? Concealer! And concealer works for covering blemishes and dark under eye circles. Speaking of eyes…have you seen the mascara? Check out my results! Statistics show that if you recommend 9 products…typically customers will go for 3. Imagine if you just took the lipstick order and didn’t talk about all the other amazing products!
“Fortune is in the follow up,” as they say. And it’s true. A lot of people are too shy to follow up with customers because they worry that the customer will say something negative. Which is WHY you need to follow up. I can’t count the number of customers who came to me saying “I used to buy off another lady but she never bothered to message me after…so I didn’t feel like she cared about me,” Take care of your customers! All the companies have Customer Service departments and Aftercare departments – for this reason!
If there is a problem, we have a fabulous love it guarantee to use. We also have to remember that following up with our customers tells them we care about them! How bad does it look to be friendly and communicative with someone, then take their money, ship out their order and never speak to them again!! Always stay in contact and remember to follow up regularly!
Got some orders through? Now your customers are broke for a little while, right? Well, they have friends! And maybe they don’t want to host a party, but why not ask for a referral?
Ask your customers to post a selfie wearing their make up and tag you in it! This is a great way to attract the right friends to you for future sales! And sometimes, if their picture gets a lot of likes, it can persuade a reluctant customer to host a party and earn free rewards!
You can also just out and out ask for a referral. “Hey do you know anyone who would like to try this new mascara?” or “Can you think of a friend who would love that lipstain as well? Could you introduce me to her?”
Sometimes just asking can result in a referral!

Always, always publicly thank your customer for her order. (Unless she specifically requests not to be thanked) Pop a post, or a video of the product(s) she purchased and give your quick review on how much she’s going to love it! Then tag her and all her friends will see what she has bought!

Have the positive mindset that opportunities to sell are EVERYWHERE! And when you approach people, remember:
FREEZE THEIR BRAIN
GET THEM TO SAY YES!
With you magic words. Smile, have good posture, enthuse positivity and energy because that is so infectious and people come back for more!
Don’t be afraid to host parties and do 1-2-1 appointments.
Don’t forget to upsell, follow up with your customers and ask for referrals.
Now you know what to do to sell like a Boss.
Why would I share these golden nuggets of advice for free? Because I believe that most people who are looking up “How to sell like a boss” online, need sales. And they need them NOW. Sure, selling has a stigma attached to it. Some people even find it demeaning. But here’s the thing, when the cupboards are bare and the fuel tank is low, you don’t care what other people think. My main piece of advice though, is to make sure that what you are selling is something you 100% love and by a company you believe in. Ultimately, is it YOU who will suffer if you sell some rubbish to a bunch of people.
Never do that.
